Minnery headshotRachel Minnery, FAIA LEEDap is an architect and Senior Director of Sustainable Development Policy at the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  Rachel is spearheading the community resilience and disaster assistance programs and other sustainable policy initiatives.   Formerly in professional practice, Rachel led design and management of building and planning projects in the private and non-profit sector.  She is co-founder of Architects Without Borders Seattle and has led groups of volunteer architects to disaster-stricken places, particularly Mississippi and Haiti, responding to and recovering from floods, hurricanes and earthquakes.  Rachel frequently speaks and writes on emerging issues related to sustainability, hazard mitigation and public-interest design.  Among her accomplishments, Ball State University honored her with an Outstanding Alumni Award and Rachel is a former recipient of AIA’s Young Architect Award.
